12 Days of Peace | Day 2: Move It

Between work at work, work at home, gift shopping, gift wrapping, baking, decorating, and everything else, there's little time for moving your body, an essential element to a clear and focused mind and capable-feeling body. Here a few easy ways to add movement, strength, and stamina into your extremely busy day if only for a few minutes at a time.

1. Bathroom Break Workout
Each time you are about to head to the bathroom at your work, get down and do 10 pushups/sit-ups/squats or jumping jacks. Or do more if you are able. This takes mere seconds, gets your blood moving, and can be easily incorporated into your day.

2. Stand at Your Desk
If you have a desk that can move, or if you find yourself at a cafe or coffee shop, try standing while you work. For some, just being on your feet can be enough. If you are feeling like you need a little extra, incorporate calf raises or squat pulses into the mix! Try intervals of 10 while you get through your emails, or little pulses as you wait for something to upload. This can also be done if you work at home - do calf raises while you cook, or with your little one in hand, or while you wait for your kids at the bus stop.

3. Walk
Just walk. Take an actual walk around the block, to lunch, to your coworkers desk, with your dog, with your kids, to the store if it's safe. Walking is an accessible and universal exercise that we often forget about. Incorporate more walking into your schedule in any way you can, even if it's a simple march in place while you do other tasks (who cares if it looks silly.)
